7 Nights / 8 Days
Luxor – Aswan – Luxor
Itinerary
From Luxor to Aswan
Saturday – Day 1
Arrival in Luxor, pick-up and transfer to the Dahabiya Nile cruise. Check-in and cabin allocation.
Sunday – Day 2
In the morning, we travel to the west bank of the Nile (Thebes West) to visit the Valley of the Kings. Here, we explore three of the currently open royal tombs. We then continue to the terrace temple of Deir el-Bahari and the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
Optionally, you may visit a traditional stonemasonry workshop, where craftsmen still practice their ancient art passed down through generations since pharaonic times.
To conclude the day, we visit the impressive Colossi of Memnon from the 14th century BC.
At midday, the ship sets sail and anchors near a small island before reaching the lock.
Monday – Day 3
During breakfast, the Dahabiya passes through the new and old locks and continues southward toward Edfu. After lunch, you will visit one of the best-preserved and most magnificent temple complexes in Egypt.
The cruise continues peacefully to the next island where we will spend the night.
Tuesday – Day 4
Today we visit the unique double temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed god Haroeris.
Kom Ombo lies halfway between Edfu and Aswan, our destination for the day.
On the way, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a special experience: a refreshing swim in the Nile – the longest river in the world – completely safe and crocodile-free.
Take time to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views and tranquil atmosphere.
From Aswan to Luxor
Wednesday – Day 5
Welcome to Aswan, Egypt’s third-largest city. We begin with a visit to one of the country’s most impressive modern engineering feats – the High Dam of Aswan – which created the vast 500 km-long Lake Nasser stretching deep into Nubia.
On the way, we cross the older British-built dam.
A bus takes us to the motorboat docks for a short ride to one of Egypt’s most remarkable sanctuaries – the beautifully preserved Temple of Isis. Originally located on Philae Island, the temple was relocated to higher ground on Agilkia Island after the construction of the High Dam, thanks to the efforts of UNESCO and the Egyptian government.
Enjoy spectacular views of this majestic site.
Back in Aswan, we visit a rose granite quarry where you’ll see the famous unfinished obelisk.
Thursday – Day 6
In the early morning, there’s an optional excursion by bus to the rock temples of Abu Simbel – awe-inspiring monuments dedicated to Ramses II and his beloved wife Nefertari.
Alternatively, you can spend a relaxing morning onboard.
In the afternoon, we begin the return journey upstream, stopping before the lock near Esna.
Enjoy once more the stunning scenery of the Nile.
Friday – Day 7
Early morning arrival in Luxor. To crown your journey, we visit two of the greatest highlights on the east bank of the Nile: the vast Karnak Temple complex – the second-largest in the world – and the Luxor Temple, with its famous Avenue of Sphinxes stretching over three kilometers.
Saturday – Day 8
Transfer to the airport and individual departure.
